With thousands of organizations, we are peacefully building a new victory, former President Zelaya said.
On Monday, Honduras’ ruling Liberty and Refoundation Party (LIBRE) announced that it will hold a historic mobilization on Aug. 30 in the San Pedro Sula city.

The call was confirmed by former President Manuel Zelaya, who stressed that the gathering will mark the beginning of a new popular victory ahead of the general elections scheduled for Nov. 30.
LIBRE’s presidential candidate Rixi Moncada approved the organization of the mass rally, which is expected to bring together more than 30,000 organizations.
“With thousands of organizations, we are peacefully building the refoundation and a new victory. We will prevail!” Zelaya posted on the social media platform X.
The announcement comes at a time of heightened political tension, following revelations of a criminal conspiracy that sought to assassinate former President Zelaya and overthrow the current administration of Xiomara Castro.
Last week, Honduran Attorney General Joel Zelaya reported the arrests of Arcadio Lopez, Perfecto Enamorado and Antonio Catan, who were formally charged with terrorism and attempted murder.
The conspiracy aimed to paralyze the state, disrupt the constitutional order and prevent the holding of the 2025 general elections. “These are not conjectures or rumors. The evidence we present is based on irrefutable scientific proof,” the Attorney General emphasized.
“Neither fear, nor threats, nor violence will stop the refoundation of Honduras. We remain firm, with more strength and conviction than ever,” said Hector Zelaya, the son of the former Honduran president.
The San Pedro Sula mobilization is shaping up as a key event in LIBRE’s electoral strategy, aimed at consolidating its grassroots base and reaffirming its commitment to democracy and social peace. Despite threats from the far right, the LIBRE leadership insists that the Honduran people’s victory is guaranteed.
